What is deep-tissue

Deep tissue massage is an excellent form of treatment if you have muscle tension, limited range of movement and hyper irritable spots (known as knots or “trigger points”) in your muscles and prefer a firmer massage.

It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the deeper muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that can form following an injury and helps reduce tension in muscle tissue and the nervous system.

Working deep into the muscle tissues also helps relieve muscle tension by removing waste products from the muscle and helping realign the tissue.

What are the benefits of deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits. Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and relieve stiffness. But it can still help to you unwind mentally, too. It known to helps with sports injuries, sciatica, tennis elbow and a whole range of other conditions.

It also helps with:

DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) - normally caused by a vigorous workout, unusual ‘once off’ activity (like over-enthusiastic gardening in spring) or after a competitive event.

Postural aches and pains such as rounded shoulder or lower back pain caused by office- based work, where you are seated for long periods.

Injury prevention for athletes and manual workers with repetitive movement patterns.

General body maintenance and as part of a healthy training program.
